Thanks; I don't know that it's failing.  The noise -- which can be quite
loud -- was kind enough to vanish for a week while I was on the road.  Now
that I'm home, it's started again.  It's intermittent, *seems* to be coming
from the fan side of the machine, and sounds very bearing-ish, but I will
most certainly try the suggestions given and see if it helps!
