[Thinkpad] Power adapter question

The adapter that came with my 770 will charge the battery in my T23 or run
the computer, but not both. (Haven't tried, but don't really want to). With
the T23 adapter, I've run it in the car, without the battery, with a
12V-120V converter with too small a fuse on the lower end (5A), and it
worked, so I assume that the computer and adapter take less than ~45 watts
when not charging the battery.
