[Thinkpad] DirectX on T43?

Huh?
Every PC compatible computer built in many years is DriectX compatible, and
in the case of the T43, it is part of the video drivers. You may need to do
an update to a newer version, which you can do by clicking on the Windows
Update Icon in the start menu. (Although a T43 is so new that assuming you
are running factory XP PRO SP2 you should not need to do that),
