[Thinkpad] I have an Atheros 802.11g 108MB card in a T23 and Idon't notice any improvement wifi range over my B or G card

Not sure what your problem is, but there are antenna plates on the end of
the wires, and they are needed. The problem is, units with built in wifi
have a provision on the LCD bezel for them, and they may not be installed
correctly in a standard bezel.
