I've seen a report or two that this has/had worked when using the old APM 
infrastructure.  I've not found anyone else who reports a similar success 
using ACPI.  If you are using ACPI then you'll need to reply with the 
proper s2ram command.

The hibernate configurations in /etc/hibernate (in Debian) includes a 
wide functionality for module and application handling.
