[Thinkpad] Fan not user serviceable?

Hi all.  The fan in my T60p has decided to pick up an intermittent rattle
which is becoming more common.  I've put my ear right up to it and that's
definitely it, not the hard drive.  As far as I can tell that's the only
other moving part that might be it.

I've opened the machine up and blown out the fan so it was nice and clean
already.  No difference.

No problem, I'll just swap out the thing before it either dies or drives me
insane.  I call up IBM/Lenovo support and they tell me that it's a whole new
fan assembly and that it's not a user serviceable part...  They won't send
the fan out for me to replace, they insist that I have to have it picked up
for an estimated four day turnaround.

I really have no interest in losing my machine for four days for a fan.  Is
there anything I can say that will get them to just send the fan out?
