[Thinkpad] OT: Anyone have experience with Dell M65?

We are talking about two different Dell product lines... Latitude vs a
Precision Mobile.

No. I know that D600 is a Latitude as we have one in the shop. But the D600
was first made and sold in late 2002 and 2003... perhaps it made it to
2004. We took ours up to the Everest Base Camp and downloaded data via
Satellite. It was very rugged, like a Thinkpad, as was the much lighter
C-400.

The main difference between Latitudes and Inspirons is that the Latitudes
are expected to ve fairly consistent from model to modul, up to a point, so
that corporate tech departments can expect some consistency in their
corporate owened equipment. All Corporate C-series Latitudes have a lot of
parts, bays, ports, and battery similarities and many things such as CD-Rom
drives are interchangeable. Same with the D-Series. But the C and D are
not interchangeable in many aspects. The CD Drives and DVD drives can be
interchanged by modifying the external hardware of the drive, and the memory
is interchangeable..

The M-series is a special breed of laptop from Dell. It has many
consistencies and interchangealble components among others in the M-series,
but is a long, long way from the D-series... The M-series is not part of
the Latitude product line. But rather, it is one of about 12 laptops in
their "Precision Mobile Work Station line... and is almost four years more
recent than the D600. Since it is intended for the corporate market where
large teams of employees are assigned the same machines that are supported
by a tech support team, I expect some parts are the same. But no promises
are made by Dell.

Sorry for the bad news. I hope this helps.

Sweet is the memory of past troubles!
