reboot, then (from the Software Installer) uninstalled the Intel Pro/Set 
driver, rebooted.

Then, again using the Software Installer, reinstall the Intel driver, 
reboot, and reinstall Access Connections.

Now everything works. Not sure why, but it's back to normal.
