[Thinkpad] Access Connections problem on T43

After working flawlessly since initial setup and through several updates, 
Access Connections has quit working on my T43 with the Intel 2915ABG WLAN 
card. I recently updated the Intel driver (using Lenovo's Software 
Installer) and that didn't seem to cause a problem.

The change immediately before AC started failing was to install Quicken 
2007 -- not sure if this was a real cause of the problem or just 
coincidental.  If I let Windows control the WLAN, all is fine, but I do 
like Access Connections. The version of AC I'm running is 4.23 (should be 
the latest).

Symptoms are that AC says that it's powering up the WLAN card, but then it 
can't find any networks (when there are about 5 to be found). Uninstalling 
and reinstalling AC didn't help. Any ideas anyone?
