[Thinkpad] X30 and Widescreen External monitor?

Did you install the driver for your Acer monitor? Maybe that's what is
missing.

Try to get 1440x900 to work if you can. Don't let the numbers fool you -
your monitor has bigger pixels than your X30, so if you can read text at
native resolution on the X30, you will be able to on the external monitor.
(The X30's 12.1" 1024x768 screen has 106 pixels per inch; if your monitor is
a 19" then it has only 89 pixels per inch.)
Be sure to enable ClearType and adjust it with the ClearType Tuner. (Google
"cleartype tuner".)
