Check out www.knoppix.com. Knoppix is a linux distro that runs entirely from
CD or DVD that you create yourself by downloading yourself, or you can buy
it on CD for very little money.
The program is self-contained so as not to make changes to any programs on
your hard drive.
I know there are several people here who have used knoppix to try out linux
before making a decision whether to switch to linux or to set up a dual-boot
with another OS.
