Of course, 14" is a standard screen, but people tend to overplay the size of
their screen. People with 13" screens tell me they are 17"!!
I have a new open box T60 with hi res LCD for $1200, and it has the DVD-R
I also have a mint used T60 with the standard LCD and DVD burner, I can't
remember what I paid for it, but I suppose $1K is about right (I'll have to
look it up).
I also have a new sealed T60 with standard LCD and CD-RW that I could bring
in for around $1050.

...this. She works with my wife and was actually "debating" on whether
to get a TP or a Dell. I spoke to her with the kind of patient
understanding such individuals require.

Here are her specs:

I’m pretty simple when it comes to what I need. I use the computer
mostly for writing and the internet mostly for research and surfing. I
don’t do a lot with music or graphics or editing – but I do have a fair
amount of photos that I store and send out. weight isn’t a big issue.
This is to replace my desktop – but I don’t travel much with it, except
from office to kitchen to bedroom. So – medium weight is fine.

Um… what else? A 15” screen is fine – I don’t wanna get too big. If I
can get a cool upgraded screen for not a huge amount, that would be
good. Since I spend so much time staring at the screen, that might be a
good thing.

I’d like both a cd and dvd burner. $1000 is my real max – I’d love to
stay lower if I can get everything I need. And – other than that – just
enough stuff on it so it won’t be outdated in two weeks! (I know six
months is too much to ask – but two weeks would be good!)

Bruce, others--anything? Thanks.

Ellis
