Alex,

Considering all that has been said, if these data are critical to the 
business, you must consider off-site online backups.

There should be a process that's daily, weekly or whatever, but 
automated off-site backup of data is critical for continuing operations. 
A backup (whether a single recordable platter or an external hard disk) 
taken home each night, and one left at home on alternate nights, will go 
a long way too.

If there really is a fire, flood or earthquake, and all the equipment is 
lost, how soon do they want to be back in business? That will determine 
what their needs are, and what the budget should be.
