[Thinkpad] X41 displays errors 0187 and 0191 ...

... and both are purty nasty.

Error 0187 activates upon an EAIA data access error, (where) the access to EEPROM is (sic) failed (read or write).

Error 0191 activates when an Invalid Remote Change (is) requested.

System board replacement's recommended for both error codes.

I tried to change a BIOS setting to see if there's any change in behavior.   There wasn't any.

Anything else I can try before I declare this one DOA?
