[Thinkpad] Portable HD

Hello,

The ethernet versions are more expensive because they are Network Attached Storage (NAS) boxes. They have more hardware and firmware to use the various ethernet protocols (SMB, NFS, etc). Think of them as small purpose-built computers. I have a Buffalo Linkstation NAS that uses a ARM processor running Linux.

I got a 160 GB Passport at the local Costco for my Z60t. So far I like it. The Z60t can power it off the USB port.

The newer laptops use SATA drives so you need to get the right enclosure if you replace the drive and put the old on in an enclosure.

Why are the ethernet versions of these enclosures so -much- more expensive?
