[Thinkpad] T-30 stopped hibernating

I guess it's possible that the switch has got a little weak in its old
age, or that its mount has sagged a little, or that the activating nub
has become worn. Perhaps you might try closing the lid with something
between the switch and the nub - it might need as little as one or two
sheets of paper - as a proof of concept.
If that works, you could try building up one or the other by some means;
quick-and-dirty possibilities that come to mind include a layer or two
of adhesive tape over the nub, or a small drop of glue (allowed to dry
completely, of course!) on the switch button.
