[Thinkpad] T43p video and DVI port on Dock II

I have a T43p with the FireGL (128 MB) and
a 15" 1600x1200 display. I also have a
Dock II with a DVI port. The docs claim
a max resolution of something like 1280x1024
via the DVI which seems a bit silly given the
specs of the FireGL. I've been done a bit of
testting and it seems that the T43p/Dock II
will drive a Samsung 21" 1600x1200 LCD display
without issues. So the spec seems just a bit
conservative :-)

Anyone know if a 1920x1200 (or higher resolution)
display will work with a T43p in a Dock II using
the DVI port? In other words, would the 23"
Apple Cinema display (or other similar ones with
only DVI inputs) work with my T43p?

If DVI won't work, has anyone used a 1920x1200 (or
higher resolution) external LCD display via the VGA
port (on the machine or dock)? If so, is the display
quality reasonable as compared to a fully digital
signal chain?

[I wonder why Lenovo hasn't added a DVI port on the
new machines like the T60/T60p. Apple puts a dual-
link DVI port on their MacBook Pro laptops so they
can drive the 30" Apple Cinema display at 2560x1600]

Thanks,

Stuart
