[Thinkpad] Unbootable after PM 8

Hello list,
 
I have a man made problem with a laptop becoming unbootable after  attempting 
to merge two partitions with PM 8.
 
This client had important files.  I have been able to view and copy  files 
using NTFSdos.  When moving some files to a new install some  Outlook Express 
emails are no where to be found.  All the folders (files)  are there but when 
importing to OE they are not viewable.  
 
My goal would be either to make the drive bootable again (Ontrack can  maybe 
do it) or make OE see all the emails.  I used another program  DBxtract which 
may have found more emails which I will find out after the  client has a 
looksee.
 
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
