First of all, don't shut up :o)
I'm not sure but good observation there. My only reasoning for my modem and
hard disk taking an IRQ of their own is that they are standard 16bit type
IIs, not 32bit card bus cards. Something about ISA and PCI whereby PCI
devices can share the same interrupt line, with one device mastering or
something? All very vague in my mind but I believe that this is it, since
cardbus is essentially PCI slots, and old PCMCIA devices are essentially ISA
which like to have their own interrupt request lines.
Just tried placing Modem on IRQ line 3 as with the cardbus controller and it
will not play ball, I think the reasoning is above.
If your Xircom card is indeed cardbus, then that makes sense.
