ACCORDING TO HIS EVOLUTION, MAN KNOWS TRUTH.--Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Hazrat Samuel L. Lewis (Sufi Ahmed Murad Chisti):

That is to say, as the heart opens. Until this occurs, there may be 
knowledge of names and forms -- this is not Truth. Until this occurs, 
one may be kind to everybody and have friends or disciples or happiness, 
but this is not Truth. All these are passing fancies whether of the 
seeming essence of knowledge or love. Until the mind-mesh is pierced and 
reality perceived, it is not Truth. Truth is above all worldly knowledge 
and morality, it is the expressing , not the expressible. It is we 
ourselves who are of the nature of Truth, and not anything outside can 
be called Truth.


The commentaries on the Bowl of Saki are the work of Neshamah Emi 
Miller. They are a devotional experience in attunement and are offered 
in that Spirit.
"What if our ideas and Ideals of the Truth-of-All will someday fade into 
antiquity?" Was this a question that was ever thought by those who 
believed in the Goddess Ishtar or Isis? Did this thought cross the minds 
of anyone praying to Zeus? Of course from our view of life we might also 
ask this question, regarding the God or the Saints that we worship 
today. However, instead of making us full of doubt, reaching this level 
of evolution, one may begin to catch a whiff of the sweetest fragrance 
-- and begin to hear and to feel the faint-but-certain pulse of -- the 
Ever-Present-Ever-Living One Heart of All.
As we broaden our world view, through increased levels of world 
communication, we can easily see, that each of the various cultures have 
held and hold, different ideas and Ideals, of the Truth in Each Moment. 
Looking at them with our current intellectual viewpoint, we may find an 
affinity with some of these ideals, yet others may seem completely 
strange and foreign. Peering deeply in-to the macro-scope that our 
modern minds can access, we find ever more unique idea-forms, which have 
moved throughout the Caravan-Sarai of the Epochs of the world. These 
different view-points regarding the True Reality of All, are based upon 
the current level of understanding, with-in the Intellectual and 
Spiritual Capacities of each culture. And it is according to the level 
that The Root of All is first perceived, and then able to be Realized, 
that the development of each society's art and culture, as well as their 
impetus to make war or Peace branches and bears fruit.
And, as the Caravan-Sarai of Life moves through our own Epoch, those who 
maintain that the Universe of Unity has reached it’s final resting place 
-- in our back yard, are as yet still unaware – that the Ever-Present is 
peering into the universal macro-scope – and at this very moment is 
witnessing our own brand of Ideals -- from within a distant, and as yet 
unknown (to us) Era.
And so it is and so it goes, that all of the wars have been fought, and 
all of the thousands of innocents, have had their life-blood poured upon 
the Earth, with-in each Epoch, through the hands and the minds and the 
Hearts of the unconscious of Humanity -- who, while trying to secure 
their own claims and versions Truth Up-on the world -- have only been 
able to thrust their tooth-pick stakes -- in-to the ever-shifting sands 
of time.
