A compendium is a labor saving judicious epitome of more weighty subject matters.
I am not sure whether that is the same kind of reference work as an encyclopedia,
but only because the latter term has of late become so ebused.
At any rate, [[WP:Encyclopedia]] has semantically drifted a good distance
apart from a [[RW:Encyclopedia]], and the activist subcabal of WP is POV-
pushing as hard as it can to push it even further, for reasons that I'll
speculum on later.
The traditional conception of an Encylopedia as a "Sum Of Human Knowledge" (SOHK Yer Head),
has been [[WP:REVERTED]] back to the more literal-minded etymology of "Circle Of Children".
But we are not here to fix the problems at Wikipedia, but to try, try again ...
