FOLG. Discussion Note 10
o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o
JA = Jon Awbrey
JR = Joe Ransdell
JR: Jon, in the following interchange with Kirsti you
say quite explicitly that the Sheet of Assertion
is an "utterly indeterminate symbol":
KM: But the sheet of assertion is not (yet) a symbol? Could
you elaborate what you mean? You take up only the sheet
of assertion, but not the relationship between it and the
Grapheus and the Graphist. Where is the triad of relations?
JA: Good questions. I think the answer to the first has to be
that the SA is a symbol, only an utterly indeterminate one.
JR: I find nothing in what you say below that answers my
objection to that depiction of the sheet of assertion.

Joe, Kirsti, Peirce List,
The thread that we were pursuing on "Utter Indetermination", that arose
as a Plotonian tangent to some points in the "Kaina Stoicheia" draft,
is what is commonly known as an ongoing investigation, but seems to
be on hold until CG, KM, et al. get some time to get back to it.
I had the impression that I was just repeating something that
Peirce said somewhere in that article, but it is admittedly
a difficult read, so I'll try to read it again when we
get back to that particular kettle of monkeys.
My hunch -- and that's all it is at this point --
is that Peirce's approach to the initial SA
would give us a clue to the indeterminate
character of the TR, and the various and
sundry orders of indetermination that
he speculates on in the KS, but I
don't see any particular hurry
to draw an overly hasty end
to that inquiry just yet.
