Experience and reason concur in telling me that a persistent failure
to practice what one preaches is prima facie evidence of a problem,
either with practice or preaching or both.  This is equally true
whether we are talking about a person or a people as a whole.

What good is our ideal if it does not tell us how to tell
what we are for, and what we are not, when it's before us?
