AB: By reading your mails I got the strong impression
that while writing you have plenty of time left to
play with form and meaning in an astounding variety
of ways. That is a great asset which gives me while
reading your mails enjoyment on a regular basis. But
sometimes it comes in the way of understanding what is
said concerning the topic under discussion. This is
one of those occasions that I have difficulties in
deciding how your words are ment to relate to mine.

AB: You can be criticizing my interpretation of
the sign concept in your opinion, see your:

JA: I peirce-istently emphasize the fact that signhood
is a relational role and not an essential category

AB: Which suggests a corrective move. Although,
I do not see anything in what I wrote that
could be the occasion for such a move.

AB: You can also be trying to tell me that you all along did
take symbol as meaning a symbolical relation. Although,
my reference to your putting formal before existence
comes in my way of that interpretation.

AB: So, probably you aim at something different.
Is it possible to sharpen the focus for me?

Auke,

Sorry to give the wrong impression.
My intention was reinforcement not
remonstration. I hadn't addressed
the issue of formal existence, but
there I just mean that a described
form of circumstance, whether it's
a thing, situation, state of being,
state of affairs, "possible world",
..., is hypothetically possible in
the sense that it is not logically
inconsistent with what is presumed
otherwise to be the case. Sort of.
