Then again, Peirce, in spite of all, or in virtue of all he anticipated,
can hardly have anticipated the agonizing slowness with which those who
ignore intellectual history would retrace its major trajectories within
the circumscript orbits of their own nutshells, all the while declaring
some new era of discovery each and every time they planted their gang's
colors on some once or thrice formerly, if not timelessly trodden shore.
So there's nothing worth a stone's throe there ...
