Semantics is a dictionary add on that allows users submit terms and definitions. It could be a nice feature for many classrooms since it could be teacher constructed (the database could be saved, btw), or students could build it over the course. phpBB2 is the postnuke module of phpBB2's free standing dicussion board platform. while stories featured on the main page each have comment boards, many teachers would find it useful, i think, to have the ability to create other forums for workshopping papers, having additional discussions, etc. one reason that i picked phpBB2 over other dicussion boards which can be added in to postnuke is that it has a wider range of features; indeed, it's more powerful than the one which comes with blackboard. for instance, users can elect to monitor a forum topic such that they receive an email notification when someone else makes a post, which could be very useful for stimulating dialogue. feel free to check these out. even as a guest, you can post to the dicussion board. charlie lowe florida state university kairosnews co-editor and site administrator From elw@stderr.org Thu Jul 11 14:18:36 2002 Received: from eckhart.stderr.org (elw@eckhart.stderr.org [65.221.79.71]) by eckhart.stderr.org (8.12.4/8.12.4/Debian-4) with ESMTP id g6BIIagD012821 for ; Thu, 11 Jul 2002 14:18:36 -0400 Date: Thu, 11 Jul 2002 14:18:36 -0400 (EDT) From: elijah wright To: cmsedu@eckhart.stderr.org Subject: Re: [CmsEdu] a test of postnuke in the college writing classroom In-Reply-To: <3D2CEB4C.1090405@garnet.acns.fsu.edu> Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: cmsedu-admin@stderr.org Errors-To: cmsedu-admin@stderr.org X-BeenThere: cmsedu@stderr.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.11 Precedence: bulk Reply-To: cmsedu@stderr.org List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: , List-Id: blogs and content management systems in education List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: > blackboard. for instance, users can elect to monitor a forum topic such > that they receive an email notification when someone else makes a post, > which could be very useful for stimulating dialogue. this one is vital - i'm at a point now where if it doesn't have an RSS feed, i at least want it to get email'ed to me. it drives me BONKERS to miss stuff.
