| Urge and urge and urge,
| Always the procreant urge of the world.
|
| Walt Whitman, 'Leaves of Grass'
Arisbeans, Conceptual Graphists, PORT-L Watchers, SemioComrades, ...
I would like to initiate a dialogue about the future
of graphical reasoning systems, a prolegomena to any
future system of data-driven, concept-grasping, just
plain logical form of graph-theoretic representation.
Just to be, as is my wont, as acronymically e-cute as possible about it:
What are the Desiderata of the "Ultimate Reckoning Graph Engine" (URGE)?
Yes, I am still Persuing the "Dream Of Leibniz" (DOL), seeking the ideal form
of the automaton, the basic pasigraphy, the calculus, that folks could really,
really use to settle their very real, not-so-clear, but present and dangerous,
their seemingly self-perpetulantly persistent disputes, the misunderstandings
that they have with the World Of Nature, and the misinterpretations that they
make of each other's ultimate concerns and their intended meanings in life, ...
Where was I? Oh yes, the URGE.
I hope that you will e-ventually forgive me, if not exe.cuse me,
if I do not e-mediately go off to build up the spiritual e-difice
of my personal website, or retire from your scene to lay up what
paltry intellectual treasures that I can muster within the heaven
of some ivory-towered Castle in Spain, or elsewhere -- but I have
already spent my entire life, or nearly, or so far, at any rate,
in Plato's Cave, except for the occasional visit to the cave of
Timon in Athens, where the fare is no better, to say the least! --
and the time will no doubt arrive when I must return to one or
the other of these subterranean climes, but, for this moment,
here in the sun, my need for community is so overwhelmingly
compelling that I hope you will indulge me for just a bit
or a while longer. I genuinely hope to repay your favors.
It is not imagined, by me at any rate, that the proposed discussion
will be "just in time" enough to have much of a sensible bearing on
the current model roll-out of the CG Standard, but it may be apt to
have some effect on the one after that, or the one after that, ...
For my own part, I actually have a few concrete proposals, for once,
or at least a few features and qualities that I believe will be of
critical importance to the continuing development and the ultimate
evolution of this URGE. But I am inviting the rest of the members
of the present community to survey as much of the terra firma, the
wide blue sky, the dark side of the moon as they can see from their
several vantage points and their various and sun-un-dry perspectives.
Looking Forward Tuit!
